The magic of ritual...

The power of a ritual is never to be underestimated, no matter how small.

If there’s one thing that lockdown and recent times has brought up for many of us is that when things are intense our daily life is no longer normal.

Things like ritual’s have never been more important, as it allows us to anchor and ground ourselves, which is so helpful when things are uncertain and up in the air.

A ritual is a ceremony or series of actions prescribed to an order, it can be a small or big ritual.

Rituals will look different for everyone and in some cases are formal, and they have been performed in all their different ways for thousands of years across cultures and religions.

Rituals can be powerful, potent and magical. Just look at a birth, a christening, a wedding or a funeral which are opposite rituals but are huge events in our lives in some form.

A ritual can often feel sacred to the person performing it, but a ritual can be as simple as the actions you take to get ready in the morning, they are sacred to you and it’s a ritual that feels good for you and helps you feel ready for the day.

Our daily rituals can be as powerful as the big ones, what’s important is the intention behind them and how they make us feel.

When in times of uncertainty creating a ritual will help you stay more in your centre and feel more in control, and they can also be good for our wellbeing and enhance it which is never a bad thing.

Rituals can also make things more fun, for instance a mundane task with a ritual surrounding it can really change how you feel about it which makes doing easier.

I love performing rituals and they are a part of my life. The daily ones are as important as the bigger ones I perform around the full and new moon and various points throughout the year.

These rituals to me help me connect to my sacred rhythm and as my life evolves, they are great points of reflection, a pause and sometimes can be mini resets, but above all they feel good and keep me anchored.

The daily ones that I love are clearing the space I’m in with some aura spray, my daily chant, my daily oracle card pull, and before bed I have a small ritual of using some essential oil and doing a meditation which sets me up for sleep.

On a more practical level my face ritual which I’ve done for years, serves me on a few levels keeping my skin happy but also feels good too like I’m doing something for me.

Now we live very busy lives so for some they may be thinking I’ve no time for rituals. Here’s the thing, you can make the most mini ritual which can be your daily pause and anchor even if it's making that morning coffee and drinking that down or those few minutes in the shower where you breathe and feel the hot water running down your skin.

Getting out in nature daily for some people is a non-negotiable or their daily walk or workout.

My friend who had a baby said she adapted the smallest things that helped her feel more in control when things actually were very intense and challenging at times.

The key with rituals is creating them to work for you, and if you don’t have any, I encourage you to create some.

Let them be your guide and anchor.

I would love you to share some of your rituals with me.

All my love
